Ob rechtspopulistische Stimmen, demokratiezersetzende Strömungen oder auch Veränderungen des Demokratieniveaus mancher Länder – die Herausforderungen gegen Demokratiebedrohungen ähneln sich in europäischen Ländern. Im Projekt „See the Signs“steht deshalb länderübergreifend ein besonderes Interesse an demokratischen Werten, globalem Lernen und europäischem Bewusstsein im Mittelpunkt. Wie wird Demokratie von jungen Menschen wahrgenommen und wie erleben sie deren Bedrohung?
Wir sind vier Organisationen aus vier verschiedenen Ländern: Aus Deutschland, Italien, Bosnien und Herzegowina sowie Ungarn. Gemeinsam wollen wir durch ein vernetztes Konzept rund um eine transnationale, hybride Ausstellung einer Demokratiebedrohung entgegenwirken. Wir möchten junge Menschen ermutigen, ihre Ansichten über die Bedrohungen der Demokratie in ihrem Alltag in ihren Ländern sichtbar zu machen. Jugendliche sollen die Möglichkeit bekommen, Erfahrungen, Wahrnehmungen oder Situationen, die für sie oft traumatisierend sind oder als unerträglich empfunden werden, zu teilen und in Form einer hybriden Ausstellung mit einem begleitenden Konzept zu veröffentlichen.
Das Projekt ist für die Dauer von 24 Monaten ausgelegt. Projektstart ist am 31.5.2022.
Whether it is the rise of right-wing populist voices, anti-democratic movements, or changes in the level of democracy in certain countries, the challenges posed by threats to democracy are similar across Europe. The "See the Signs" project therefore focuses on democratic values, global learning, and European awareness across national borders. It explores how young people perceive democracy and how they experience threats to it.
We are four organizations from four different countries: Germany, Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Hungary. Together, we aim to counter threats to democracy through a collaborative concept centered on a transnational hybrid exhibition. We want to encourage young people to make their perspectives on threats to democracy in their everyday lives visible. The project gives young people the opportunity to share experiences, perceptions, and situations that they often find traumatic or unbearable and to present them as part of a hybrid exhibition accompanied by educational materials and a supporting concept.
The project runs for 24 months and officially starts on 31 May 2022.
Am 17.4.2024 wurde die Ausstellung in Sarajevo und auf Gather.Town eröffnet. Junge Menschen aus Deutschland, Italien, Ungarn, Bosnien und Herzegowina zeigen in der Ausstellung, wie sie Gefahren für unsere Demokratie wahrnehmen. Man kann die Künstler:innen vor Ort bzw. online treffen und in den Austausch kommen. Die Online-Ausstellung ist dauerhaft geöffnet und kann jederzeit besucht werden. On 17 April 2024, the exhibition was officially opened in Sarajevo and on Gather.Town. Young people from Germany, Italy, Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and beyond present how they perceive threats to democracy. Visitors can meet the artists either on site or online and engage in discussions with them. The online exhibition remains permanently accessible and can be visited at any time.
